Spelling abilities link to both reading and writing. Spelling is one of the most sensitive indicators of a learning disability and can be one of the most challenging abilities for students with dyslexia to develop.
As educators and parents, we can feel at a loss when we don’t see a meaningful change in our students’ spelling abilities and test scores. Thankfully, there are ways to explicitly guide students through Structured Word Inquiry and spelling investigation to develop their skills. Sound boxes, word sums, lexical matrices, and etymology activities are key tools to help students make sense of spelling.
This training workshop will enhance your ability to develop students’ concepts of spelling, understand spelling misconceptions, evaluate students’ writing samples, and use a multi-modal structured literacy approach to building students’ spelling skills.
Saturday, October 19, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM EST
This course will be offered entirely online, through a platform called Zoom.
